FINALLY got around to developing two rolls of film I’ve had since last Fall. Forgive me but I forgot exactly what film this is. I believe it’s Kodak Portra.

A couple winter photos from a recent shoot with my girlfriend.
Hey all! I am creating this post to look back and go over my year through photography. Forgive me if this is rather long, but I had quite an awesome year! From getting to do some awesome portrait work with new and old clients, to shooting my first wedding, going to new places on vacation and old ones, and to meeting my new, beautiful girlfriend through photography, 2012 was definitely productive. Now, on to the start of things…
I started the year off in attempting to do a 52 Week Project. Essentially this requires to do a photo a week for an entire year. I had success doing a 365 Project so I figured this would come rather easy. I chose to do portraits and incorporate my lighting set up in each photo. I made it about a month before calling it quits, but during that time I was able to get some photos that I was really happy with.

I was especially excited with how this one came out for Valentine’s Day.

And that the New York Giants won the Superbowl!

Winter and Spring seemed to cruise by…

A Spring themed photoshoot that happened to take place in 30 degree temperatures. I credit Marrit and Irene for sticking through the shoot.

A self portrait done at a time I was trying to escape that past and get back on my feet.

As Summer rolled around and the temps got warmer, getting outside was a blessing. After a while, being stuck inside waiting for nicer weather gets pretty old. I took up mountain biking with some friends. First time every doing this. Boy was it fun, but an absolute butt kicker.

While stuck inside during the winter months I had been thinking about a photoshoot for the Summer. I wanted to head into a pond/swamp with a model, and take some beautiful photos in a rather dirty, ugly place. I posted a status inquiring about a model. A bunch of people “liked” the status and idea, but no one volunteered until Kristen came along and jumped on the opportunity. I was stoked that I had found someone willing to head into mucky waters with me. The results I could not have been happier with.

Little did I know this event would lead to one of the bigger and better highlights of 2012. After this shoot, Kristen and I hit it off pretty well. Eventually, after I made it up to her for being in that nasty water through ice cream and a few other dates, she became my girlfriend. Needless to say I’ve been happy ever since.
The Summer fun continued with America’s Birthday.

Towards the end of July, the annual family trip to our campsite in Dalton, New Hampshire kicked off. I love it up there. Being far away, up in the mountains from any major cities. Best place to kick back and relax by the camp fire or lake, hike up some mountains, or head into quaint New England towns.

August provide me with a new vacation spot. For the first time, I headed out to Martha’s Vineyard with Kristen to visit my sister who had been staying the Summer there.

Labor Day Weekend came, and I was going to shoot my first official wedding! I was very nervous, but excited to have this opportunity. Dave and Melissa were an awesome couple, as was there rest of the wedding party. This helped calm my nerves throughout the day and I was able to provide the newly weds with photos of their special day they will be able to cherish for their lifetime.

Autumn here in Connecticut is one of my favorite times of the year. I just love the fall colors, being out in the crisp cool air, and all the pumpkin and apple flavored goods. Not to mention fairs and Halloween.

I also had two engagements and a portrait session during the Fall, which provided a beautiful backdrop.

In October I made my first trip out to the West Coast with my girlfriend Kristen. We headed out to San Fransisco to visit her best friend Natalie. We made it out to Alcatraz and Muir Woods. I gotta say, San Fransisco was one of the more beautiful places I’ve been.

The year closed out with a great holiday season, spent with family and friends. Watching my favorite Christmas movies (which inspired a themed photoshoot), eating Christmas cookies, spending Christmas Eve/Day with family enjoying good company always make that time of year something special.

2012 provided me with new opportunities that I look to expand on in 2013. I already have a few weddings lined up along with other various photoshoots. I plan on getting some branding done for my photography and to set up a more professional website/blog. I thank you all for your support that you have provided me with and I hope to make 2013 bigger and more successful than previous years!
Take care and thanks for reading,
Dan
Recent E-Session photos.
I’ve been slacking on my posts. These are from a portrait session that was taken a few weeks ago.

This is another attempt with the Brenizer Method. 15 photos stitched together here. Not the best. I probably could have used a longer focal length and stepped back a little. Anyway, happy fall!
Fall and fair season is here. I love this time of year.
Decided to use my Dad’s 35mm camera over vacation in New Hampshire last month. It had been awhile since I’ve used film. The rolls I had were expired, so I decided to use them and see what would come of it. The first photo was expired Tmax 100, and the rest are Ilford Delta 400.
